1. Information We Collect

None. Lacy Digital Labs does not collect, receive, store, or process any information about you or your use of the Lantern Bible app. We do not know what you read, what you highlight, what you search for, what you write in a note, when you open the app, what device you use, or whether you use it at all. There is no Lacy Digital Labs account, no sign-up, no email address to hand over, and no server of ours anywhere in the picture.

2. The App Makes No Network Connections

This is the plainest statement we can make about it, and it is the design rule the app is built and tested against: the Lantern Bible app does not connect to the internet. It contains no analytics library, no crash reporter, no advertising software development kit, no update checker, and no general-purpose HTTP client of any kind.

Everything the app displays is already inside it:

• The Bible text, its footnotes and the topical index all ship in a read-only database bundled with the application. Nothing is fetched.
• The typeface used for Scripture, Charis SIL, is bundled with the app rather than loaded from a font service.
• Search runs entirely on your device against the bundled text. Your search terms are never transmitted, because there is nowhere for them to go.
• Cross-references, topics and footnotes resolve inside the app. No link in the reading surface points at a website.

The only exception is an ordinary one and it is always your choice: if you tap a link on the app’s About or rights screen, your device’s normal web browser opens it, and from that point your browser’s own privacy behavior applies. The app itself still makes no request.

3. Where Your Data Lives

The app keeps your own work in a database in the application’s data folder on your device. That database holds:

• Highlights — the verses you have marked and the color you chose.
• Notes — the text you have written, and the verse each note is attached to.
• Bookmarks and reading position — where you were, so the app can put you back.
• Preferences — presentation, type size, column width, line spacing, whether verse numbers and headings are shown, and similar display settings.

The bundled Bible database is opened read-only and is never written to by the app. All of the above stays on your device. It is never uploaded to, processed by, or stored on any server operated by Lacy Digital Labs, because no such server exists for this app. Uninstalling the app removes it.

4. Optional Folder Sync

If you use the app on more than one device, you may optionally point it at a folder on a cloud drive you already use — iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, Nextcloud, or a synced network folder. When you do:

• Each device writes one file of its own containing your highlights and notes, and reads the files the other devices wrote. Nothing else is placed in that folder.
• The file goes to a storage service you already have a relationship with. Lacy Digital Labs is not a party to it, does not operate it, cannot read it, and is not told that you turned the feature on.
• How that provider stores, encrypts, scans, retains or discloses the contents of your drive is governed by their privacy policy and terms, not ours. If that matters to you, choose the folder accordingly — or choose a folder that is not synced anywhere, which works just as well for keeping a backup.
• The feature is off unless you turn it on. Leave it off and nothing ever leaves the device.

5. Telemetry, Analytics, and Crash Reports

There are none. The app gathers no usage statistics, sends no diagnostic data, and files no automatic crash reports. There is no setting to turn any of this off, because there is nothing to turn off. If the app misbehaves, we will only ever learn about it because a person chose to tell us.

6. Tracking and Advertising

The app contains no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no tracking pixels, no cookies, and no third-party analytics or attribution software. It does not build a profile of you, does not track you across applications or websites, and has nothing to sell to anyone, because it has nothing about you at all. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, as those terms are used under the California Consumer Privacy Act or comparable laws, for the simple reason that we hold none.

7. Price, Purchases, and Payment

The Lantern Bible app is free. There is no price, no trial, no subscription, no in-app purchase, no unlockable tier, and no donation prompt inside the app. It therefore performs no payment processing and handles no billing or financial information of any kind. If you obtained it through an app store, your relationship with that store is unchanged by installing a free app.

8. The App Stores That Distribute It

Where the app is distributed through Apple’s App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store, those companies act as the distributor and may collect information about the download itself — that an account acquired the app, on what device, and when — under their own privacy policies. That collection is between you and the store, happens outside the app, and is not visible to us. The store may show us anonymous, aggregated counts of downloads; those counts identify nobody.

On every store privacy questionnaire, the Lantern Bible app is declared as “Data Not Collected”, which is an accurate description and not a convenient one. Direct downloads from our own website involve no store at all; our web server keeps ordinary short-lived request logs, as any web server does, and those are not connected to anything you do inside the app.

9. Device Backups

If you have your device’s own backup feature switched on — iCloud Backup, Finder or iTunes backup, Android’s Auto Backup, Windows File History, or a Time Machine or other disk backup — your highlights and notes are included in that backup, like the data of any other app you use. The app is deliberately built so this works: the large bundled Bible database is excluded from backup, since it can simply be re-extracted, while your own notes are kept where the backup will pick them up. Those backups are governed by your device maker’s privacy policy, not ours, and we never see them.

We nonetheless recommend using the app’s own export (Section 12). With no account and no service behind the app, an export you keep somewhere is the surest way for years of notes to survive a lost or replaced device.

10. Children’s Privacy

The app is suitable for all ages and is safe for children to use, because it collects nothing from anyone and connects to nothing. It contains no advertising, no user-generated content from other people, no chat, no external links inside the reading surface, and no way to spend money. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 — or from anybody else, at any age.

11. Security

Because your data never leaves your device unless you deliberately turn on folder sync, the security that matters most is the security of the device itself. We would encourage a device passcode or login password and full-disk encryption; your notes are only as private as the machine they sit on. On our side of the line, the app’s attack surface is deliberately small: it opens no network sockets, loads no remote content, embeds no third-party software development kits, and treats the bundled Scripture text as immutable and verified — the app checks the text against a hash built into the program before it will display it.

12. Your Choices and Your Data

• See what is stored — everything is in the app’s data folder on your device, and nowhere else.
• Export it — every highlight and note can be exported to a plain, readable file at any time, and imported back on this or another device. This is a version-one feature precisely because it is the only durable copy that exists.
• Delete it — delete individual highlights and notes in the app, or uninstall the app to remove all of it. Nothing is retained anywhere else, because nothing was ever sent anywhere else.
• Stop syncing — turn folder sync off at any time, and delete the files from the folder yourself if you want them gone from your cloud drive.
• Data requests — rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information are meaningful only where a company holds some. We hold none about you, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. If you believe otherwise, contact us and we will look into it.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Should a future version of the app ever gain a feature that touches the network, this policy will say so plainly and in advance of that version shipping.
