Terms of Use
Short version: the software is yours to use, you own what you make with it, and we can't be liable for what it does on your equipment.

The Short Version
Our apps are software you install and run on your own device. What data an app handles — and whether it talks to any service at all — is described in that app's own privacy policy, which is the authoritative statement for that app. The software is provided as is — you're responsible for how you use it, especially where it controls radios or hardware. These terms cover all Lacy Digital Labs software unless a specific app ships its own license that says otherwise.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Lacy Digital Labs, LLC ("we", "us"). They apply when you download, install, or use any of our software — including WillisMD Pro, WillisGSD, WillisSDR, WillisLogger, WillisTP, CardLoom, and TermLogger (each, an "App") — and when you use this website.
If you don't agree to these Terms, don't install or use the software.
2. Your License to Use the Software
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Apps on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business purposes.
Where an App ships with its own license file (in the app's About screen, or on a product license page on this site), that license governs that App and controls over these Terms to the extent they conflict.
3. What You May Not Do
You may not:
- Redistribute, resell, rent, or sublicense the Apps, or make them available to third parties as a service.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Apps, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this limitation.
- Remove or alter copyright notices, license text, or attribution shipped with the Apps.
- Use the Apps to break the law, infringe someone's rights, or interfere with networks or systems you don't have permission to use.
4. Purchases, Stores, and Refunds
Apps purchased through a distribution platform — the Apple App Store, Microsoft Store, Google Play, or similar — are subject to that platform's terms, billing, and refund policy, in addition to these Terms. For those purchases the platform — not us — processes your payment and holds your payment details, and refund requests go through the store. If we ever sell an App or service directly, the payment terms for that sale will be presented to you at the time of purchase.
5. Your Data, Your Files, and Online Services
Data handling differs from App to App. Each App's privacy policy — linked from this site and from within the app itself — is the authoritative description of what that App collects, stores, and transmits, and it controls over these Terms on that subject. Read the policy for the App you're using.
Where an App stores its data locally on your device, you are responsible for your own backups. Where an App offers an optional online or synchronized service, that service may have additional terms presented to you at the time you enable it, and we may suspend or discontinue it as described in Section 9.
You retain ownership of the content you create with the Apps. We claim no rights in it.
6. Open-Source and Third-Party Components
The Apps include third-party and open-source components. Those components are licensed under their own terms, which are reproduced in each App's license screen and prevail over these Terms for those components. Third-party trademarks are the property of their owners, and their appearance in an App does not imply affiliation or endorsement.
7. Radio Operation and Regulatory Compliance
Several of our Apps — including WillisSDR and WillisLogger — control or log the operation of radio equipment. You are solely responsible for operating your equipment lawfully, including holding any required license, respecting frequency and power limits, and complying with the rules of your national regulator (in the United States, the FCC). We do not monitor or control how you transmit, and providing software that can command a radio is not authorization to operate one.
8. Hardware, Automation, and Safety
Apps such as WillisGSD command physical hardware, including antenna rotators and ground-station equipment. Software can fail, hang, or issue a command you did not intend. Do not rely on our software as the only safeguard for equipment or people. Maintain independent mechanical and electrical limits, and supervise automated operation. You assume all risk of property damage or injury arising from hardware you control with the Apps.
9. Updates and Availability
We may release updates, change features, or discontinue an App — or any optional online service associated with an App — at any time. We are not obligated to provide updates, support, or continued availability of any App, service, or this website. Copies you have already installed keep working under the license you received with them, subject to any service they depend on remaining available.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APPS AND THIS WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APPS WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT THEY WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LACY DIGITAL LABS, LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, OR EQUIPMENT, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE APPS — EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO AN APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THAT APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE (or, for a free App, zero).
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lacy Digital Labs, LLC from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Apps, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right — including any claim arising from your operation of radio or other hardware.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Kansas have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms.
14. Termination
This license ends automatically if you breach these Terms. On termination, stop using the Apps and remove them from your devices. Sections 5 and 10 through 13 survive termination.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the Apps after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
